Pack Your Bags

Sometimes you have to take off all your clothes

To feel the sun completely on your skin

Or go barefoot to feel the ground beneath you

And let the earth be your shoes

Death is the ultimate vacation

We’ve been packing for our entire lives

What will you take with you, my friend?

What’s in your suitcase?

Your trip is one-way

Final destination complete

How you get there

Is in your hands, not mine

So fill the hole in you

Fill it completely

Not with stuff

Not with things

But rather fill it with

The places you’ve been

The fear you’ve overcome

The songs you’ve sung

The plays you’ve participated in

The people you’ve loved

The thoughts you’ve shared

The kindness you’ve given freely

The joy and happiness you’ve experienced

And the memories you’ve created
